How Your Home Can Help You Turn The Page

You know that feeling - life is turning a page. It comes with a new address. A new relationship, job, or a new family member. Even the drama of a broken pipe or kitchen appliance can bring it on. That feeling tells you that one chapter of life is closing and you’re moving into the next.

Coincidentally, your home needs some change too. Wil it take a different paint color, or a complete do-over? You may be wondering about the possibilities, where to draw the line, what to spend. You go online looking for inspiration. It’s time to move ahead!

This is when an interior designer gets the call. A potential client tells them they’re redoing their kitchen, or maybe that their old carpeting “ugh, just has to go!” But before inquiring about their budget, style or color preferences, the most important question a designer will ask you is “Why now?”

Think about it...why is your home design or improvement project important to you now? What best describes what’s going on in your life? -Your answer speaks volumes.

Everyone has a background story that provides the essential context for design. Knowing and understanding where you’re coming from is critical to developing the right project and helps sort through all those choices and design possibilities. Questions about style and aesthetics can actually wait a bit.

So what’s the drama unfolding in your life? What’s your story? Why are you ready to get help from a designer in creating your home?  Why now?

It might be your motivation to no longer live with DIY mistakes, or in a blah and impersonal environment. It might be that you’re about to get really, really busy raising a family. Or, that it’s finally time to invite more people into your life and affirm your love of entertaining. Whatever the reason, as a designer I can stand with you as you turn the page. I get to help you create functional spaces with beautiful aesthetics to nurture and support the life ahead of you.

In the coming months, my blog will turn to story telling. It’s those design stories behind the new kitchens and master suites, the upholstery pieces, dining tables and area rugs that I want to share. The design stories will come with some pretty pictures too, but the focus will be on how design incorporates more ease, beauty and art into everyday life and the profound difference it makes in your world.

My question for your is…
